Dole Park, also known as Lanai City Commercial Square, is in the center of Lanai City. Highway 440, coming from the Lanai Airport, is called Lanai Avenue as it goes through town, forms the top border of the park. Seventh Street, Frasier Avenue, and Eight Street are the other three streets surrounding the park. Built around 1922 when the plantation village was established, this large, grassy park serves as the center of family recreational activities with a pavilion, picnic tables, and community center.
Many Norfolk and Cook Island Pines provide shade and beauty to the park as well as the city and surrounding mountains. Several veteran memorials are located in the park commemorating the soldiers that fought and died in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Perfect setting for picnics and family outtings with a covered pavilion and picnic tables available. Large grassy and shaded areas. Plenty of free parking on the streets bordering the park. Most of the islands stores, restaurants, galleries, and the only playhouse are located around the park. |
