Take Highway 440 south from Lanai City. Turn left at the end of the highway onto New Manele Road. The harbor is located at the end of this road. Approximate drive time from town is 25 minutes.
This small boat harbor is surrounded on the west by Pali Lei no Haunui seacliffs which provide the harbor with excellent protection from storms and strong currents. This is where most private yachts, charter boats and the Lahaina-Lanai Ferry dock. The Ferry departs fivel times each day starting at 8am, 10:30am, 2pm, 4:30pm, and 6:45pm. Expeditions in Lahaina can be arranged or just go and spend the day in the lovely old port city of Lahaina.
The ocean view is beautiful here and, on clear days, the island of Maui with Mount Haleakala can easily be seen in the distance. There is a shaded picnic area, tables, pavillion and grills. |

Kaumalapau Harbor |
|
|
Take Highway 440 west from Lanai City to the end of the road. The harbor is approximately 7.5 miles out of town.
Located on the west coast of Lanai, Kaumalapau Harbor is the main harbor for the island where most fishing boats depart. The area was once a thriving and busy harbor when pineapple was king on the island. Now the harbor is quiet with only an occasional fisherman on the wharf and the Lanai Oil Company in the background. The harbor is naturally well-protected by low seacliffs. Small tidepools can be seen near the rock wall sea break during low tide. Excellent fishing spot fromt the dock as well as the nearby rock walls. Great place to watch sunset. |
